FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Have a question? We’ve compiled some of the most common questions customers ask about Ce-les-tin’s products and services. If you don’t find your answer here, feel free to contact us – we’re always happy to help!
What materials are your clothes made from?
Our garments are made from organic linen-blend fabric. We chose this material because it combines the best of both worlds: the breathability and timeless quality of linen, with a bit of added softness and durability (thanks to the blend, which includes organic cotton). The result is fabric that is gentle on a child’s sensitive skin, yet sturdy enough to handle all the adventures of playtime. We also use non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes for our colors, so you can be confident there are no harsh chemicals in your little one’s outfit. Sustainability and comfort are at the heart of everything we make.
How do I care for Ce-les-tin clothing?
Taking care of your Ce-les-tin outfits is simple. We want these pieces to last a long time, becoming hand-me-down treasures! For best results, we recommend the following care tips:
• Washing: Turn the garment inside out and machine wash on a gentle cycle, in cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild, gentle detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can weaken the natural fibres.
• Drying: It’s best to air dry your linen-blend clothing. You can lay the items flat in the shade or hang them on a line. (Linen dries fairly quickly!)
• Ironing (if needed): Our fabric tends to become softer with each wash. You might notice some natural wrinkles – that’s part of linen’s charm. If you prefer a crisper look, you can iron or steam the garment on a warm setting while it’s still a bit damp. Alternatively, use a steamer or hang the clothing in the bathroom during a hot shower to relax wrinkles.
• General Care: Avoid storing the clothes in direct sunlight (to prevent any color fading over time). If a stain occurs, treat it as soon as possible with a gentle stain remover or a bit of baking soda and vinegar for natural cleaning.
By following these tips, your Ce-les-tin pieces will stay beautiful and hold up through many wears and washes. Our clothing is designed to be well-loved – a little bit of care goes a long way!
How long does shipping take?
We strive to get your order to you as quickly as possible. Once we dispatch your package from our NSW location, shipping times will depend on your destination and chosen shipping method:
• Standard Shipping: Typically 3-7 business days within Australia, depending on how far you are from us (we’re in NSW). For example, Sydney and east coast metro areas are often on the shorter end (around 3-5 days), whereas remote Western Australia or Northern Territory locations might be around a week.
• Express Shipping: If you selected express, delivery usually takes 1-3 business days Australia-wide. Express is the fastest option and great if you need an order urgently for a birthday or special event.
Keep in mind these are estimates. We’ll email you a tracking number as soon as your order ships, so you can monitor the progress. If your parcel hasn’t arrived within the expected timeframe, please contact us and we’ll gladly assist in tracking it down. (Also, see our Shipping Information page above for more details on carriers and handling.)
Currently, we ship within Australia only, so all delivery times are domestic. If you’re an international customer interested in our products, feel free to reach out – while we don’t regularly ship overseas, we might be able to make special arrangements or let you know if/when we expand our shipping zones.
What is “slow fashion” and how is Ce-les-tin sustainable?
“Slow fashion” is all about quality, longevity, and ethical production, as opposed to the quick turnover and mass production of “fast fashion.” At Ce-les-tin, slow fashion is one of our core values:
• Thoughtful Design: We create timeless styles that can be worn across seasons and passed down to younger siblings or friends. Our coord sets are classic and versatile, reducing the need to constantly buy new clothes as trends change.
• Ethical Production: Each piece is handmade (or hand-finished) with love. This means we produce in small batches, ensuring attention to detail and minimizing waste. We partner with local seamstresses and suppliers where possible, supporting our community and ensuring fair labor practices.
• Quality Materials: By using organic and durable materials, our clothes last longer. They won’t fall apart after a few washes like some fast fashion items do. This means fewer clothes end up in landfills.
• Sustainable Practices: We are mindful of our environmental impact at every step. From eco-friendly dyes to plastic-free packaging, we aim to reduce waste. Even our linen-blend fabric is chosen because linen is a flax-based fiber that has a lower environmental footprint (it requires fewer pesticides and less water to grow than many other fibers).
• Motherly Warmth: This isn’t a technical sustainability factor, but it speaks to our approach – we treat every customer and every product with care, the way a mother would. We want you to feel that warmth in the quality of our clothing and in our customer service.
By choosing Ce-les-tin, you’re not just getting a beautiful outfit for your child – you’re also supporting a movement towards more sustainable and ethical fashion. Thank you for valuing the story behind the clothes!
What if the outfit I ordered doesn’t fit or I change my mind?
We understand that shopping for kids can be tricky – sizes vary and sometimes an item just isn’t the right fit. If the outfit doesn’t fit or you’re not completely happy with it, we’re here to help. We have a flexible returns policy (see the Returns & Refunds Policy section above for full details). Here’s a quick summary:
• Returns/Exchanges: You can return the item within 14 days of receiving it, as long as it’s unworn, unwashed, and still in original condition with tags. We can offer you either an exchange for a different size/item or a refund to your original payment method. Just contact us within that 14-day window to initiate the return.
• Process: We’ll guide you through the return steps. Essentially, you’ll send the item back to us and, once we get it and confirm it’s in good condition, we’ll process the refund or send your exchange.
• Return Shipping: For change-of-mind or size exchanges, you’d be responsible for the return shipping cost. If we’re exchanging, we typically ship the new item to you at no extra charge (within Australia). If the return is due to a mistake on our end or a faulty product, then we cover all shipping costs, of course.
• Friendly Support: Don’t hesitate to email us at any point if you’re unsure about sizing or need advice. We’d much rather help you find the perfect fit beforehand than have you end up with something that isn’t right. We can provide measurements, fit descriptions, or any details you need to make an informed choice.
Our ultimate goal is for you and your child to be delighted with our products. If you’re not, we’ll do our best to make it right, whether through an exchange, refund, or other solution.
How do I choose the right size for my child?
We use standard Australian children’s sizing as a guideline, which often corresponds to the child’s age group. However, every child is unique, and fit can also depend on whether your little one is tall, petite, etc. Here are some tips to ensure a great fit:
• Size Chart: Please refer to our Size Chart (usually available on each product page or a dedicated size guide section on our website). We provide detailed measurements for each size – typically chest circumference, top length, waist (for bottoms), and pant length. It can be helpful to compare these measurements to a garment that already fits your child well.
• Growing Room: Our coord sets have a comfortable, slightly relaxed fit (not overly tight). If your child is between sizes or in a growth spurt phase, you might want to choose the larger size to give a bit of growing room. You can always roll up sleeves or pant hems if it’s slightly big, and that way they can wear it longer.
• Communication: If you’re unsure, feel free to send us a message with your child’s age, height, and usual clothing size. We can advise if the sizing runs true, small, or generous based on our experience and other customers’ feedback. Because our items are handmade, there might be minor variations, but generally our sizing is consistent.
• Adjustable Features: Some of our designs may include adjustable elements (e.g., elastic waists, tie straps, or roomy cuts) to accommodate fast-growing kids. We design with play and comfort in mind!
Remember, we’re here to help. We want the clothes to fit just right so your child can comfortably enjoy wearing them. If an item doesn’t fit, we’ll work with you on an exchange or return as noted above.
Are your products safe for children and babies?
Absolutely. The safety and comfort of children is our top priority. Here’s how we ensure our products are kid-friendly:
• Skin-Friendly Materials: We use organic fabrics that are gentle on sensitive skin. Organic linen and cotton are free from many of the harsh chemicals that can irritate skin. They’re also breathable, reducing the chance of rashes or overheating.
• Non-Toxic Dyes: All colors and prints are achieved with baby-safe, non-toxic dyes. We adhere to safety standards so that there’s no risk if a baby chews on a sleeve (as they do!).
• Quality and Durability: Our garments are made to withstand active play. We reinforce seams and use high-quality threads. This means less risk of buttons popping off or seams tearing unexpectedly. (As of now, most of our coord sets have elastic waists and simple closures, so there are no small buttons or beads that could pose choking hazards. If we do use any small parts in future designs, we will ensure they are securely attached and note the appropriate age.)
• Safety Testing: While we are not a mass manufacturer, we do test our designs on our own children and willing little “testers” to ensure there are no issues with functionality. For instance, we check that waistbands are snug but not too tight, and that there are no scratchy tags or unfinished edges that could irritate.
• Compliance: We follow Australian standards for kids’ clothing where applicable. For example, any sleepwear items (if we produce them) would comply with fire safety labeling requirements. Our daywear is designed with play safety in mind (no long dragging ties, etc.).
Rest assured, when you dress your child in Ce-les-tin, you’re wrapping them in something that’s been made with a mother’s love and thorough attention to detail. If you ever have any specific safety questions about our products, please do reach out.
Where is Ce-les-tin based, and do you have a physical store?
Ce-les-tin is based in Tanilba Bay, New South Wales, Australia. This is where our small studio/workshop is located and where all orders ship from. We do not have a brick-and-mortar retail store at this time – we operate exclusively online (through our website and occasionally at local markets or pop-up events). This helps us keep costs down and focus on crafting each piece to order.
However, if you’re in the Port Stephens/Hunter Region area (where Tanilba Bay is), feel free to get in touch! While we don’t have a storefront, we might arrange local pickup or allow visits by appointment in some cases. We love meeting our customers in person when possible.
For everyone else, we ship across Australia and aim to make the online shopping experience as smooth as possible. Our website provides detailed product photos and descriptions, and we’re always an email away if you have questions before purchasing. We want you to feel as confident as if you were seeing the item in person.
